IG Kanja directs Police Commanders to strengthen community policing for enhanced security
The importance of community policing in preserving national security was reaffirmed by IG Kanja.
November 27, Nairobi, Kenya—In an attempt to strengthen national security, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has instructed police commanders across to step up community policing activities.

The comments were given by Kanja at the National Police Leadership Academy in Ngong at the formal launch of the County Police Commanders Strategic Leadership Course No. 1/2024.
In order to guarantee the smooth execution of their common mission, he also urged security services to work together more closely.
The Inspector General reaffirmed his determination to turn police stations into "police operations centers of excellence."
He stated that more mental health awareness initiatives and ongoing training for NPS personnel will help realize this goal.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Kenya Police Eliud Lagat followed Kanja.
NPS Spokesperson Resila Onyango, Western Regional Commander Kiprono Lang'at, National Police Leadership Academy Commandant David Mathiu,
and other senior officers and course instructors were among the other authorities in attendance.
