India and Guyana Sign Ten Memorandums of Understanding During Modi's Visit, Consolidating Agriculture, Health, and Technology Partnerships

India's New Delhi November 26 During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, India and Guyana signed ten Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), strengthening their collaboration in digital innovation, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and cultural exchange. 

Collaboration in Culture and Health 

With an emphasis on theatre, music, fine arts, literature, libraries, and museums, a Cultural Exchange Program (2024–2027) was signed to honor and conserve cultural legacy. 

Two significant agreements were reached in the health sector: one to implement the Janaushadhi Scheme (PMBJP), 

which would allow CARICOM countries to receive inexpensive medications, and another to recognize Indian Pharmacopoeia laws to improve medical standards.

An agreement to exchange programs in culture, education, science, and sports between Prasar Bharati and Guyana's National Communications Network increased broadcasting links. 

The goal of a defense-focused Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India's Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and Guyana's National Defence Institute (NDI) is to 

advance national security and defence studies education, research, and training.

Regulatory and Pharmaceutical Frameworks

To provide a strong foundation for communication and cooperation, a separate Memorandum of Understanding was inked in the pharmaceutical and medical industries 

to govern raw materials, biological products, medical devices, and cosmetics.

UPI Implementation and Digital Innovation

Regarding digital transformation, the INDIA STACK MoU creates collaboration through training initiatives, pilot projects, and capacity building. Furthermore, 

NPCI International Payments Ltd. and Guyana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs have reached an agreement aimed at implementing a real-time payment system akin to UPI, 

which is expected to transform digital transactions in the Caribbean country.

The accords demonstrate India's expanding cooperation with Guyana in vital areas to strengthen bilateral ties and promote regional growth.
