The court prevents JKIA from signing any agreements with Adani
Nov. 27, Nairobi, Kenya Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is prohibited from participating into any contracts or concession agreements with Adani by an injunction obtained by the High Court.
According to Justice Bahati Mwamuye, no such alleged agreement should be made until after the petitions contesting the private partnership allegedly
entered into by the Adani group and the Kenyan government have been heard and decided. To connect with us on WhatsApp, click this link.
The judge ordered Adani Group and Adani Airports Holdings Limited to present documented proof that President William Ruto's
declaration during his state address that the concession in question had been revoked was accurate.
Additionally, the court ordered the Kenya Airports Authority, the Ministry of Roads, the Cabinet Secretary Treasury, and the management of JKIA to refrain from enforcing the aforementioned private-initiated partnership.
Through his attorneys, senior counsels Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Kibe Mungai, Eugene Wamalwa, Dan Maanzo, and Ndegwa Njiru,
petitioner Tony Gachoka demanded that the petition be heard and decided before the court. This prompted the court to take action.
They informed the court that the petitioners and other Kenyans were curious about the origins of the Adani group's presence in Kenya.
They said that a very high degree of corruption was displayed during the contract award for the JKIA and energy sector revival.
They said that without supporting paperwork from the court, the President's announcement that the contract had been revoked was insufficient.
According to the court, the president made the declaration after Adani was implicated in a high-level corruption scheme involving $265 billion in the United States.
