The government establishes 582 new administrative divisions at the subnational level
November 27, Nairobi, Kenya—To meet the needs of the nation's expanding population, the Ministry of Interior and National Coordination has created more administrative divisions.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi gazetted the new entities, which include 31 sub-counties, 59 divisions, 170 locations,
and 322 sub-locations, on November 22 while serving as the Interior Cabinet Secretary.

The Gazette notice dated November 22 stated, "With the President's approval,
the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration establishes the following Administrative Units as Service Delivery and Coordination Units,
effective November 2024, in exercise of the powers granted by section 14 (1) of the National Government Co-ordination Act, 2013."
Magarini South, Magarini North, Akachiu, Mukothima, Ndithini, Illeret, Kolowa, Baringo West, Mukutani, and Saboti are among the newly created sub-counties.
Ndhiwa East, North East Kano, Ndhiwa West, Siaya West, Embakasi South, Roysambu, Ruaraka, Samburu West, Embakasi East, Embakasi West, and Embakasi North are the others.
The ministry also changed the names of a few sub-counties that already existed. Among them are:
- Maua (formerly Igembe South),
- Zombe (formerly Mutitu),
- Sigowet (formerly Soin Sigowet),
- Tiaty Central (formerly Tiaty West),
- Ndhiwa West (formerly Ndhiwa).
- Gura in Wundanyi Sub-county,
- Damajale in Liboi Sub-county,
- Garsen Central in Tarasaa Sub-county, Adu and Garashi in Magarini Sub-county,
- Sagalla in Voi Sub-county are all located in Garissa County.
- In Mwatate Sub-county, Rong’e Nyika, Nyika, Chawia ya Chini,
- Mrughua; in Taita Sub-county,
- Werugha, Choke, and Mghange;
- in Dadaab Sub-county, Welhar and Daidai;
- and in Abogeta Sub-county, Ngongoni
- Igoji Sub-county's Njerune, Gitine, and Mugae;
- Igembe South Sub-county's Kamburu, Tumutumu,
- Thubai, Kilili, and Kilalai;
- Laikipia East Sub-county's Kirimara and Tetu;
- Gilgil Sub-county's Sokoni and Pipeline.
